Holiday Hot Cocoa Bar

The holidays bring so much joy to my heart! I love the festive season, with Christmas scented candles, yummy food, and hot cocoa. I’m a huge fan of hot cocoa and will have it whenever it is possible during the winter months. Count me in! We thought it’d be fun to share with you our stylish hot cocoa bar as a fun touch to your holiday party or family movie night. A hot cocoa bar is super cute and adds something delicious to snack on while you socialize with friends and family and exchange gifts.

Add your hot cocoa bar in a corner of your kitchen, dining room, living space, or even your entryway to greet guests. We used our modern style bar cart that includes two shelves to keep everything in one place. Use the lower shelf for guests to set their gifts aside until the unwrapping begins. As for the top shelf, go all out with hot cocoa additives and mugs for enjoying.

Have everyone bring a mug to the crock pot where you can serve them hot cocoa and they can return back to add anything they might like, whether that be marshmallows, caramel syrup, or a hint of peppermint. Having options lets them personalize their hot cocoa and make it especially tasty.

We thought a tray filled with the extras would look cute paired with pine and pine cones for a holiday surprise. Jars laced with red and white strings also create a Christmas aesthetic. We love how the chalkboard signals where the parties at with string lights around. Feel free and decoration however you want! Incorporate other Christmas details and even candles for a warm, cozy feel.

Here's a homemade hot cocoa recipe to use!

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk 14 oz.
  • 1 package milk chocolate chips 12 oz.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Extras:

  • Whipped cream
  • Toffee bits
  • Cream
  • Caramel Sauce
  • Churros
  • Hazelnut
  • Salt – to bring out the flavors and add a little kick
  • Peanut butter
  • Nutella
  • Peppermint sticks
  • Extra chocolate – chunks, chips

Instructions:

  1. Add all ingredients to your crock pot. Set to low for 2 hours. Stir every 10 minutes or so to make sure it's well combined. Once all the chocolate chips are melted turn it down to the warm setting.

*Optional: You could also set the crockpot to high for less time and stir more frequently. Once all the chocolate is melted you can turn the crockpot down to warm.
