Naturally Dyed Easter Eggs

I love Easter, it is a time of happiness, excitement, hope and of course EGGS.So this year I wanted to try something new with dying eggs and I'm obsessed with the results! I made dye out of natural foods!! It's clean, organic and the colors turned out phenomenal. I was amazed at how vibrant the colors were and I actually ended up boiling some more eggs to dye because I wanted more muted colors! (I'll share tips on times to get your desired color!) 

 

Also I was so amazed at how inexpensive this project was, and how much I actually loved the colors that came out of it!

 

Teal Blue: Red Cabbage (1/2)

Yellow-Orange: Yellow Onion Skins (4 onions & some skins that had fallen off in the grocery store)

Mauve Pink: Beets (1-2)

 

To make your dye:

Chop the red cabbage, grate or chop the beets and take the skins off the onions.

Put each ingredient in a separate pot and top with water until covered and maybe 1/2 inch of water covers.

Add a tablespoon of vinegar & sprinkle of salt for enhanced color.

Now bring to a boil and let simmer for 20-40 minutes, depending on how rich you want your dye to be!

Guys this is cooking, it does not have to be exact for you to get amazing results, so trust your judgement and just check your color until it looks rich, it will lighten up when its on the eggs!

Strain your dyes and add them to jars or bowls and let cool! I put mine in mason jars so I could fit multiple eggs in.

Now let them soak! my darkest ones sat overnight and the lightest were just in there for 10 minutes! So play with it, and no matter what they will be beautiful!

Now enjoy your beautiful eggs! Use them to decorate your table, make deviled eggs, or in your kids easter egg hunt!
